Faithful Mount eases to victory

26th July 2012

FAITHFUL MOUNT won yesterday's 20,000 Euros Maiden event at Dieppe, kicking clear in the straight and was never seriously challenged. It was a first winner for the stable ridden by Louis-Philippe Beuzelin, who is now based in France, after leaving England last year. After a very good reappearance when 3rd at Longchamp, this Shirocco Colt has really appreciated the step up in distance recently (3000m.)and his Owner/Breeder Graham Robinson was there to welcome him into the Winners' enclosure with his wife Diane.
Rupert said, "He is still a bit immature and will thicken out over the coming months. He showed a good attitude and stayed on really well after taking command 3 furlongs out. Graham has always wanted to have a useful staying horse and hopefully he's got the right type in this Colt. His Jockey said he wanted to go around again when he started trying to pull him up after the winning line!! He'll have a break now, we'll gear everything around the Autumn and we'll think about next year with him too. He's won on Good ground today but he'll be just as effective when there's more give underfoot towards the end of the season."

On the same card POPPET'S PASSION ran on well inside the final furlong to be 3rd in the 20,000 Euros Maiden, over 5 and a half furlongs. It was her fourth consecutive 3rd place finish but she is heading the right way, with 6 furlongs (or an extended 6) looking suitable now. There will be no complaints about her prize-money earnings of at least 3000 Euros for her efforts, in each of her last four appearances. As the French would say,she is like a "petite banque".
